General
Newcastle airport, just 10 km outside Newcastle city centre, has
a long history, having first opened in 1935. It deals with 3.3 million passengers per annum, with flights to trans-Atlantic destinations available to Toronto and Florida.
A wide range of domestic and European connections are also served by airlines operating out of the airport.
Newcastle airport has only one terminal, which deals with all international and domestic arrivals and departures. The terminal is well designed, with a wide selection
of facilities, and is well capable of dealing with the high traffic of passengers.
Shopping
There are many shops available in the airport with WH Smith offering three outlets, positioned across level 1, level 2 and the departure lounge. Boots chemist also has
an outlet in the terminal, and opens daily at 05:00.
Airside you will find a good selection of duty-free provided, with products including fragrances, cosmetics, wines,
spirits, electrical goods, watches, jewellery, CDs, confectionery and cigarettes.
Connections Food Court provides a self-service facility offering a wide variety of refreshment. Costa Coffee shop on the ground floor next to the international arrivals
offers freshly brewed coffee. You will also find a bar, Cushie Butterfields Pub, located on the first floor of the terminal.
Business Facilities
Business travellers will find facilities provided by the Cheviot Executive Lounge located in the Departure Lounge. A pleasant environment affords internet access, faxing
facilities and telephones for the mobile professional.
The British Airways Lounge in the Departures area also provides a business centre while the principle business centre
is located on the first floor of the main terminal.
Disabled Facilities
Those with special needs will find specially-adapted toilets in the airport, as well as ramps and extra-wide entry and exit points. While those with hearing difficulties
can benefit from the presence of TDD phones, located across the terminal.

Information located on the ground level.
